the billionaires are coming, we're doomed

Omigawsh: Billionaires for Bush.

Billionaires for Bush is a grassroots network of corporate lobbyists, decadent heiresses, Halliburton CEOs, and other winners under George W. Bush's economic policies. Headquartered in Wall Street and with over 60 chapters nationwide, we'll give whatever it takes to ensure four more years of putting profit over people. After all, we know a good president when we buy one.

There's some funny stuff at that website but... puh-leez.

The fact that a person is super rich hardly guarantees that they're going to be a mean old Bush supporter. Money fuels the political machinery on both sides. It has to. It's good business. The Democrats are just as firmly in the pockets of the monied business interests as the Republicans. They just do a better job hiding it.

And speaking of decadent heiresses, there were 700 million reasons for John Kerry to marry his current wife, and they all had George Washington's picture on them.

Well, not to say there aren't Democrats dripping with filthy lucre; of course there are. But I believe there is a positive correlation between wealth and political conservatism, so the point that B4B makes is not unreasonable IMHO. More importantly, I would like to suggest that the Dems have a far richer sense of humor, satire, and parody than the GOP. Of course I'm biased, so I would be expected to think so ;-)
